Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does SMOK SPEC fit all SCBA air mask types? Smok Spec is designed to fit all SCBA full face air masks which possess a single facepiece lens. The means of attaching the Smok Spec frame to the inner surface of the air mask lens varies (i.e.., suction cup assembly, cemented on anchor bracket, or nut and bolt assembly), depending upon the configuration of the mask being fitted. Refer to the Product Detail Page to determine which model of SMOK SPEC is the appropriate match for your respirator mask type.
2. Is there any limitation on the prescription strength or lens type that can be used in the SMOK SPEC?
There is no limitation on the prescription strength or lens type that can be inserted into the SMOK SPEC frame. The same prescription power used in the user's habitually worn eyewear can be used in the SMOK SPEC, including bifocals if desired.
3. Do you sell the SMOK SPEC with prescription lenses already inserted or do I need to purchase my prescription lenses elsewhere?
Your prescription lenses can be acquired either through Scuba Spec, Inc. or your local eyecare professional. Regardless of source, only quality safety lenses should be used. If you wish for us to insert the lenses, you must send us a copy of your prescription (fax: 803-643-8056). Most simple prescriptions can be filled within 24 hours of receipt of order.
4. What is difference between the various models of SMOK SPEC?
The major difference between the various SMOK SPEC models relates to how the spectacle frame is attached to the inner surface of the mask's facepiece lens. The specific characteristics of the air mask being fitted (e.g. depth of mask, curvature of facepiece lens) dictate which means of frame attachment is utilized: suction cup assembly, cemented on anchor bracket, bolt and screw assembly, or combination suction cup-anchor bracket assembly. Refer to the Product Details Page for a description of the various SMOK SPEC models and guidance regarding which model is the appropriate match for your respirator mask type. 5. How can I purchase a SMOK SPEC?
SMOK SPEC can be purchased through your eyecare professional, selected distributors, or directly from us (Scuba Spec, Inc.). Orders to us can be placed via phone (1-800-457-5155), fax (803-643-8056), or email (scubainc@gforcecable.com). Unless otherwise requested, orders are shipped by UPS ground transport.
6. If I volume purchase SMOK SPEC, is there a discount?
Yes, for eyecare professionals and other qualified purchasers (e.g., distributors, fire departments, industrial ESH departments, government agencies), a graduated volume discount is available.
7. Is there a product warranty for the SMOK SPEC?
Yes, the SMOK SPEC (excluding lenses) is warrantied for two (2) years against breakage or defects if properly cared for. Proper care is defined as soaking the nylon spectacle frame in water for approximately 24 hours every three (3) months.
